Peter Coe Verbica is perhaps best known as "the Nicest Guy in Luxury Real Estate."
Peter grew up on a cattle ranch nestled within the golden hills of Northern California. With this background, he developed a passion for open space, a pioneering spirit, an appreciation of history and a strong work ethic. He has had a variety of experience in the real estate industry, as a licensed broker, owner, financier, marketer, trustee, property manager and advisor.
He has been a home owner in Santa Cruz County for many years, having lived on Depot Hill in Capitola, and currently at Pasatiempo Golf Course. He and his wife's four children have attended local grammar, middle and high schools. Peter is a member of the Santa Cruz Association of REALTORS®, the California Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®.
As trustee, he was involved in the rehabilitation and sale of 4,125 acres in Silicon Valley, which now is predominantly pristine open space. In addition, he supervised the sale of 54 timber tracts in Maine and New Hampshire, as well as the renovation of over 100,000 square feet of commercial and residential real estate on the East Coast. He has bought and sold hundreds of acres of ranch property near Mendocino County.
As trustee or officer, he currently holds interests in a Napa County ranch, a self-storage facility, apartments, office property, and the Original Clubhouse at Pasatiempo Golf Course overlooking the Monterey Bay. He has advised to a large real estate portfolio which is comprised of over 3,200 acres in California and another 1,400 acres in Hawaii. He holds a real estate broker’s license issued by the State of California Department of Real Estate.
Mr. Verbica has spent some time in the corporate world, as one of the youngest financial officers of an the investment bank, Dean Witter, subsequently acquired by Morgan Stanley, and as a team leader at the former boutique firm of Robertson Stephens, which was acquired by BankAmerica.
Mr. Verbica earned a BA from Santa Clara University, a JD from its School of Law (Phi Delta Phi honor’s fraternity member) and a Master’s of Science from M.I.T. in Real Estate Development.
His family donated the heart of Henry W. Coe, Jr. State Park, which is now California’s second largest state park. Mr. Verbica has served in a variety of positions on numerous non-profit boards and committees, including KTEH-TV, the Hakone Foundation, the DeSaisset Museum, Bellarmine College Preparatory’s Board of Fellows, Santa Clara Chapter of the Boy Scouts of America, the Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre, Rotary Club of Santa Cruz and many others.
Peter enjoys sports, including USTA tennis, ice hockey, and long distance running, including marathons and half-marathons. His horse Sterling, ridden by his oldest daughter and others, won Hunter/Jumper Reserve Championships at the Pebble Beach Classics, Desert Classic at Indio and the Los Angeles Preview.
